BANGALORE: Hewlett-Packard and SAP, the inter-enterprise software solutions
provider, have announced services and technology solutions designed to make it
easier for customers to engage in e-commerce. The solutions will also help them
control the complexity of the Internet.
The services include a technical implementation program for e-commerce
starter pack, the new turnkey solution that allows current SAP R/3 customers to
emerge from within their company firewalls and engage in an e-commerce
environment, states a release issued by the company. HP and SAP have developed a
suite of services for technical implementation at customer sites worldwide. HP
Services claims that its consultants and engineers with special
system-integration expertise will help customers protect their existing
investments by implementing a complete mySAP.com e-commerce environment as an
optional path to the direct upgrade of R/3 4.6.
HP also unveiled an implementation program for mySAP.com Workplace Server
that is supposed to reduce standard installation time from weeks to days. HP's
programs for SAP ready-to-run workplace server and R/3 are both currently
available on HP-UX(1). To manage the complete SAP business-to-business
environment, HP announced an advanced version of its HP OpenView VantagePoint
SMART Plug-In for SAP R/3. Combined with HP OpenView VantagePoint Manager, the
integrated solution is tuned to manage end-to-end SAP R/3 and mySAP.com
environments. HP OpenView enables SAP R/3 customers to control an entire
Internet-based workplace environment by showing the business impact of failures
and helping them to act quickly and minimize disruption. HP OpenView also
supports SAP business information warehouse and the Internet transaction server.
It provides sophisticated performance management metrics, additional control of
usage, subsystems and network bandwidth along with improved reporting
facilities.
