MUMBAI: Hewlett Packard has rolled out their new storage virtualization
strategy with the announcement of the HP Surestore SANlink appliance.
HP's storage virtualization strategy allows customers to increase the
efficiency of their data by optimizing underutilized storage resources and
placing virtualization where it is needed.
"Storage virtualization is a cornerstone in HP's federated storage area
management (FSAM) strategy. We are providing customers the key resource they
need to put them in control of their data centers by enabling disparate bundles
of storage, regardless of brand, to be managed and evolved through one pane of
glass," said, Network storage solutions operation, Asia Pacific vice-
president and general manager, Charlie Trentacosti.
The HP Surestore SANlink appliance integrates hardware, software and
services. It allows the capacity of multiple storage devices from different
vendors to be pooled and centrally managed as well as providing connectivity to
storage from multiple operating systems. The accompanying SANmaster software
provides remote data monitoring. These are the first products delivered as a
result of the StorageApps acquisition.
