BANGALORE: HP has rolled out its Remote Insight Lights-Out Edition (RILOE) II card, a new generation of its core technology for providing virtual presence and control. The RILOE II card enables IT administrators to manage and control one or thousands of industry-standard HP ProLiant servers more cost effectively within a data center or at remote locations around the world.

New technology in the RILOE II card, including enhanced graphical and security features and virtual media capabilities, enables faster, more efficient performance of critical functions such as server deployment, maintenance and application installation, without physically visiting the server.

Featuring state of the art integrated processors, the RILOE II card offers five times faster graphical performance on a standard Ethernet connection and more sophisticated graphical remote console management than the previous version, and 128-bit encryption with remote console data transmission for increased security. The card also features breakthrough virtual media capabilities allowing IT administrators to virtually insert a CD or floppy disk from a remote location and enjoy in-front-of-the-server level presence and control from anywhere.

"IT managers in data centers and remote sites are faced with the constant pressures of reducing IT expenditures while optimizing data center management resources, security and performance. RILOE II is another example of the value and innovation that distinguish HP ProLiant servers as the most reliable and manageable industry standard server platform," said, Hewlett-Packard India Business Manager - Industry Standard Servers, Vaibhav Phadnis.

RILOE II is the latest step in HP's fulfillment of its adaptive infrastructure strategy, following the recently released Integrated Lights-Out technology and ProLiant Essentials management tools. With the virtual presence and control capabilities of RILOE II, IT administrators can utilize support personnel more effectively, reduce costs of on-site staff or traveling administrators, and resolve problems more quickly and efficiently.

The RILOE II card is completely integrated with the HP Insight Management Suite, including one-click access from Insight Manger 7 and the ability to deploy and provision server software configurations using the ProLiant Essentials Rapid Deployment Pack. In addition, the card is tightly integrated with the HP OpenView software suite. HP OpenView's industry leading infrastructure management software enables companies to manage and optimize business services over IT, voice, and data infrastructures. Since HP introduced lights-out management technology, HP customers have deployed more than 500,000 RILOE cards.
