HP powers Paprikaas data center with blade server

BANGALORE, INDIA: HP, a provider in IT solution and services, today announced that Paprikaas, a provider in animation, VFX and game development, has selected  HP's  Proliant BL460c G5, blade servers technology for powering its data center.

The blade servers would enable Paprikaas to increase production of computer-generated imagery(CGI) drive, basically used as visual effects in films, television programs and video games and cost saving data center initiative.

A typical 90 minute film, with CGI development, often requires the production and storage of more than 2 million hours of digitally created content.

The extreme performance and storage requirements, coupled with rising demand for visual effects have put competitive pressure on the companies to increase production.

The high performance computing blade solutions would enable Paprikaas to increase performance , produce large volumes of digital content and establish an energy- efficiency standard in its data center.

He added that in addition to cost savings, HP blades would effectively help in reduction of the carbon foot print and minimize environment impact.

Nandish Domlur, CEO, Paprikaas, said,“ HP has a long expertise world wide in building technology solutions. By leveraging their solution, we are able to ensure that our data is produced on time, stored in secure manner, and passed on to the client in time.”

He added that the strategic alliance with HP would help in building robust IT infrastructure in digital content creation for Paprikaas.

Commenting about the Indian animation industry Nandish reiterated that the animation industry has a huge growth potential and opportunity in terms of services and content ownership. There are about 350 million children in India, who form definitive audience for animation.

He added,“ The Indian animation has gone beyond mythology. Roadside Romeo is a perfect example for that. But the script perspective is still lagging and should go beyond bollywood. Animation can be well accepted by the Indian market if right kind of content is developed with good story.”

Nandish said, “ Paprikaas is planning to add another facility center outside Bangalore and also plans to increase 20 to 30 per cent headcount in the current rate of 700.”

The HP Blade servers would go live for Paprikaas's data center within six to eight weeks.
