BANGALORE, INDIA: Personal Computer maker Hewlett Packard (HP) is likely to enter the tablet market on Friday by releasing its 9.7 inch TouchPad
The HP's tablet boasts of a new operating system called WebOS. The newest entrant to the tablet market will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.2GHz dual-CPU.
According to media reports in Taiwan, Inventec Corp., a major contract manufacturer of personal computers, has received big-ticket orders for tablet PCs from Hewlett Packard (HP). As per the reports, HP has ordered from a supplier for 400,000 to 450,000 TouchPad tablet PCs per month.

HP is also expected to launch a 7-inch tablet in August. Taiwan-based Inventec Corp will be supplying both the HP Touch Pad models, according to a CENS.com report.
HP's Touch Pad is likely to be first launched for the US market on July 1. According to media reports, the tablet can be priced at $499.99 for the 16GB and $599.99 for the 32GB model. However, while showcasing the product in February, the company had said that TouchPad will be priced competitively against the iPad, which starts at $499.

Reports say that the HP's tablet would be sold through a variety of retailers, including Amazon.com, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and Staples.
Other features on the HP TouchPad are; 1024x768 display, front-facing 1.3-megapixel webcam, in built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
However, there has been no official confirmation of launch dates from HP.
