HP joins hands with WWF-India for Earth Hour

BANGALORE, INDIA: Even as climate change and global warming has become a serious matter of concern globally, Hewlett-Packard (HP) today announced its partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature-India (WWF) as the ‘Green Technology Partner’ for Earth Hour 2009- the global climate change campaign.

HP would partner with WWF- India in support of the Earth Hour campaign to drive greater community awareness and action around behavior affecting climate change, encouraging individuals and organizations to make a difference in the fight against global warming, said a press release.

“HP is pleased to extend its partnership with WWF in this unique initiative to combat issues around climate change,” said, Bina Raj-Debur, director, Corporate Marketing, HP India.

“For decades, we at HP have been committed to reducing our environmental impact and making it easier for our customers to ‘go green’,” she added.

The Earth Hour 2009 is taking place on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 8.30pm in cities around the world including India. During 'Earth Hour', millions of individuals and businesses will turn off their lights for one hour, demonstrating that by working together, we can all make a difference in the fight against climate change.

HP will be turning off the lights in all HP site buildings in India for Earth Hour, said the release.

Ravi Singh, WWF India said, “Earth hour is a unique initiative with which we hope to raise awareness and encourage people to make energy reduction a priority.”

WWF and HP welcome individuals and businesses to join them in tackling climate change.
