BANGALORE: Leading computer maker Hewlett Packard has announced significant breakthrough innovation in system design with the launching of dual processor module 'mx2' which it claims with dramatically increase the workload capacity and cuts costs for its Integrity server customers.

The new dual processor module features two industry standard Intel Itaniun 2 processors on a single module that can plug into existing systems -delivering upto 35 percent lower acquisition costs than similar IBM systems.

The new dual processor module allows increased performance, flexibility and investment protection on HP Integrity servers. Customers can consolidate more workload onto HP Integrity server with an in-chassis upgrade to the dual processor mx2 module. Customers also get additional choices in price points as this module doubles the processor counts for the existing HP Integrity server family.

Speaking on the occasion, Karthik Ramarao, Business Manager-Business critical servers, HP-Asia Pacific said,"Our focus on delivering the industry's broadest standards-based servers, as part of our Adaptive Enterprise strategy, enables us to innovate, differentiate and add value to our customers."

Said Pallab Thalukdar, Director-Enterprise Mktg. and Alliances, CSG-HP (India), "mx2-based Integrity servers offer nearly twice the workload capacity and nearly twice the performance density compared to current, single Itanium 2-based Integrity servers. In addition Integrity Servers achieve industry-leading performance across multiple workloads an operating environments by maximizing the Intel I2 processor."

HP Integrity servers offer the opportunity to consolidate applications from leading operating environments, including HP-UX11I, Windows, Linux and later in the year, Open VMS.
