HP helps Apar with data consolidation

BANGALORE, INDIA: Apar Industries, one of India’s leading companies in the diversified fields of electrical, metallurgical and chemical engineering industry has selected HP’s solutions to consolidate and manage data effectively.      

This multi-divisional, multi-location company has strong individual databases for each department. More than 80% of Apar's data was stored in multiple database servers catering to the most sensitive and precision-intensive components of Apar's functioning – chemical engineering.

To meet its growing needs, Apar deployed SAP ERP 6.0 on HP's Integrity Servers with HP-UX 11i V2 platform along with HP StorageWorks EVA4000 SAN Storage. The clustering software used, HP's Serviceguard extension for SAP, provided the necessary application-level failover protection. The backup of data was completed via an MSL 2024 tape library through TAR BACKUP software. SAP ERP 6.0 modules implemented included modules for finance (FI), controlling (CO), material management (MM), products and planning (PP) and sales & distribution (SD).

HP’s solutions have resulted in a faster and more secure data cataloguing and retrieval for Apar industries. Apart from the ease and utilization of storage space and increased reliability of data storage due to Virtual RAID, Apar also now enjoys better data manageability, thanks to HP Command View software.

The customer now has optimal utilisation of the disk space and there is no single point of failure.
