BANGALORE, INDIA: Hewlett-Packard announced the expansion of its product return and recycling program to enterprise customers in India. The Planet Partners Hardware Recycling Program is part of HP’s ongoing commitment to offer recycling programs that are convenient, environmentally sound and consistent with its global commitment to corporate citizenship.

The program offers to take back end-of-life HP and non-HP computing equipment like personal computers, laptops, computer monitors, handhelds, notebooks, servers, printers, scanners and fax machines, as well as associated external components such as cables, mice and keyboards.

“Customers are integral to our commitment to the environment,” said Jean-Claude Vanderstraeten, director, environmental management, HP Asia Pacific & Japan. We are committed to reducing our own environmental impact, as well as that of our customers, partners and suppliers. The number of PCs, servers, print cartridges and other electronics reaching the end of their usable life is growing rapidly.  It is critical that we work with our customers to explore innovative approaches to electronics recycling so we can offer the most environmentally responsible solutions available while providing them with convenient choices”, he added.

HP’s recycling program operates globally in more than 40 countries, regions and territories and seeks to reduce the environmental impact of IT products, minimize waste going to landfills and help customers conveniently discard products in an environmentally sound fashion. Plastics and metals recovered from products recycled by HP have been used in new HP products, as well as a range of other uses, including auto body parts, clothes hangers, plastic toys, fence posts, serving trays and roof tiles.
