manageability solution consisting of HP OpenView ManageX and Dell

OpenManage IT Assistant, for Dell PowerEdge server environments.

Advertisment

Dell and HP OpenView customers now receive an integrated management

solution that allows them to manage their Dell PowerEdge servers, network

operating systems (NOS) and business-critical applications. The HP

OpenView ManageX — Dell OpenManage IT Assistant integration component is

available at no cost to customers.

Dell OpenManage IT Assistant offers network administrators the ability

to monitor the health of and handle the asset, configuration and remote

management for Dell systems on a network. Customers can also better track

the history of individual systems and the lifetime cost of owning them

with IT Assistant’s Asset Info function.

The integration of HP OpenView and ManageX and Dell OpenManage IT

Assistant delivers SNMP and DMI events from Dell PowerEdge servers into HP

OpenView ManageX to provide IT administrators a view of their NOS (either

Windows NT or Netware), business-critical applications (such as Microsoft

Exchange or SAP R/3) and Dell hardware management events. It allows IT

administrators to run both the Dell OpenManage IT Assistant console and

the HP OpenView ManageX console from within the Microsoft Management Console (MMC). This unified console provides IT administrators view of their server environments and provides a mechanism for predicting and notifying IT administrators when they need to purchase additional memory

or disks, therefore giving IT organizations information for hardware

capacity planning.
