LOS ANGELES: NetObjects Inc. on Monday said its small-business Web site
building products Matrix and Fusion MX will be bundled with two digital imaging
products from Hewlett-Packard Co.
The company's Fusion MX software enables Windows users to build an online
presence and subscribe to Web services that help manage their businesses online.
Matrix enables users with Internet connections to quickly build Web sites -
complete with e-commerce capabilities - regardless of the operating system they
use.
The affiliation provides NetObjects with new and predictable revenue streams,
said company chief executive and president Samir Arora, who would not disclose
the value of the three-year deal.
Under the terms of the agreement, Hewlett-Packard will pay NetObjects a fee
for each scanner it ships. Additionally, Hewlett-Packard and NetObjects will
share revenue from scanner buyers who sign up to use NetObjects' online
services.
The deal also is seen as a way to boost Hewlett-Packard's small business
presence.
"Combining the power and ease of use of NetObjects Web site building
technology with HP digital imaging products will help our small office and home
office customers build a professional-quality Web presence in minutes,"
Vice President and General Manager of HP Digital Imaging Mary Peery said in a
statement.
NetObjects is an affiliate of International Business Machines Corp. , which
has a 48 per cent stake in the Redwood City, California-based software maker.
The software vendor also has revenue-sharing agreements with IBM and Dell
Computer, the No. 1 maker of personal computers.
