HP takes its compute cloud to public

FRANKFURT, GERMANY: Technology major Hewlett-Packard announced the general availability of its infarstructure as a a service offering, Cloud Compute, on the third day of HP Discover 2012 conference being held here today. The company also announced that it is now ready to take HP Cloud Block Storage and Cloud Applications platform-as-a-service into the beta stage.

According to a survey, while 75 per cent of oraganisations intend to pursue hybrid delivery model, for 72 per cent oraganisations portability of workloads between different cloud models is important and for 65 per cent of organisations are concerned with vendor lock-in.

Moreover, people are struck "Where do I start?" "How do I manage risk?" "How o I bridge with existing architectures? "How do i change the mindset?"

Steve Dietch, vice president, WW cloud, enterprise group, HP, said: "The three features that will be differentiating HP from its competitors are choice; in terms of delivery model, platform and partner, confidence; in the areas of security, management and scalability and consistency; with regards to architecture, portability and consumption.

We do not intend to do everything by ourselves on cloud.
