How to recover deleted files?

Have you ever emptied your recycle bin or pressed Shift+Delete accidentally, on an important file? Well, don't feel guilty because there's software available that can recover it for you.

This handy utility called R-Undelete saves you the miseries that follow deleting important files. It's a 2.23 MB download from www.r-undelete.com. There's a demo version that lets you 'undelete' files smaller than 64 K, and for larger files, you'll have to purchase the software.

Let us see how to recover a DOC file with it. Its installation is a breeze. But here's a word of caution. If you've deleted a file from a particular partition of your hard drive, don't install or copy anything on that partition, else you may lose all possibilities of recovering any file from there.

When you launch R-Undelete, it will ask you to choose the drive partition from which you've accidentally deleted a file. In our case, it was the D: drive

Next, choose what you want to do. Ideally, the first option of file enumeration on disk should be good enough to find and recover accidentally deleted files

From the left pane, go to the folder from where you lost the file. The right pane show a list of all files that have been deleted from there. Choose the file you want to recover

Once you've found the deleted file, just choose a path where you'd like to restore it to. But remember, don't restore it in a

location from where you've lost files
