With the new technology, the airport has overhauled its check-in system by using Amadeus Airport Common Use Service (ACUS).

ACUS will improve the customer experience through modernization by using tablets and mobile devices for check-in and boarding, not only increasing efficiency, but also deriving 25 percent reduction in passenger processing costs.

The next generation, cloud-based ACUS solution will make use of application virtualization, allowing passenger processing systems to be accessed and deployed anywhere, on demand. Ground handlers will also be able to handle passenger processing for multiple airlines at the same time from any gate or terminal and from any device.

The investment in technology aligns with Perth Airport’s AUD$1 billion overall transformation of infrastructure.

Rowan Chalmers, Executive General Manager, Operations and Customer Experience, Perth Airport said, “Moving to the Amadeus’ cloud-based common use system means we will be able to cut passenger processing costs by more than 25 percent for our airline partners. That was a key consideration when selecting this new and innovative system.”

According to John Jarrell, Head, Airport IT, Amadeus, “Airports across the world are under pressure to think differently in order to handle increasing numbers of passengers, and modern technology has a huge role to play. The deployment of ACUS is only the beginning of our partnership with Perth Airport, and we look forward to continuing to work closely together.”
