BANGALORE, INDIA: Honeywell was named the Best Control Systems Provider at the 2013 Asian Manufacturing Awards (AMA) held here on August 29.

Honeywell's Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS) emerged the winner against other major distributed control systems (DCS) nominated for the award. Judges made the award based on Honeywell's solution innovation, customer impact, client engagement and regional market penetration.

Ian Verhappen, director and principal engineer at Industrial Automation Networks in Canada and one of the judges, commented, "Experion® PKS is the mind share market leader for DCS systems in the Asia Pacific region. The new Universal I/O and virtual environment technology has changed the approach to control system design and life cycle maintenance."

The winners of the various categories of the AMA were chosen by an independent panel of judges from Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, and North America. The results also were audited by Singapore auditors, Summit Planners Audit, to further guarantee a fair and transparent voting process and to ensure a high level of credibility for the awards.

"It is gratifying that the industry recognizes the benefits which Honeywell brings to its customers," said Leong Hon Mun, sales director Southeast Asia, Honeywell Process Solutions. "The award is a real testament to Honeywell's Experion PKS consistent performance in improving customers' plant performance and demonstrates commitment to the client base to ensure satisfaction throughout the marketing, sales, delivery and post-implementation lifecycle."

The AMA is organised by the Manufacturing Group of publications at Contineo Media to give recognition to those companies whose industrial technology solutions and value-added services enable regional manufacturers to reach and sustain the required levels of world-class performance.

"The process control system is the brains behind the operation of the multi-billion dollar chemical, oil & gas, and power plants that are built in Asia," said Bob Gill, editor-in-chief of Control Engineering Asia, while he announced the winner. "Over the last 12 months, Honeywell has announced a number of landmark innovations for its flagship DCS. Such features are providing real benefits for customers faced with demanding project schedules and late specification changes."
