HMEL is now SAP customer

INDIA: HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) has entered into a strategic alliance with SAP AG to become the first customer in India to implement SAP Value Partnership services. With the combined SAP services and industry expertise, HMEL aims to establish best-in-class business processes and drive operational readiness to launch its first 9MMTPA Greenfield oil refinery, called Guru Gobind Singh Refinery Project at Bathinda, Punjab.
 
With an estimated investment of Rs.19, 000 crores, HMEL will plan, design, construct, commission and operate an energy efficient and environment friendly Greenfield refinery, along with associated infrastructure facilities. As a trusted advisor, SAP will assist in managing operational readiness of HMEL’s processes, systems and organization in time for the refinery’s launch.

To meet successful commissioning of the refinery by early 2011, SAP Value Partnership services will help HMEL overcome some of its prior challenges: evolving business requirements, limited core team, tight timelines and concurrent implementation of multiple systems, as a press release adds.
 
HMEL is a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Mittal Energy Investment Pte Ltd, Singapore – a Lakshmi N Mittal Group Company. The Greenfield refinery project is expected to generate significant employment opportunities and usher in an era of overall development and prosperity in the area in and around the facility.
 
The company adds – SAP Value Partnership services, delivered by the Business Transformation Services (BTS) group of the SAP Services organization, help customers achieve business excellence and realize maximum value from SAP software and related IT investments. The services bridge the gap between business strategy and technical implementation, which can lead to maximized value from customer investment in SAP software.
