BANGALORE: HID Global, secure identity solutions provider, has launched new additions to its multiCLASS product line.
The enhancements combine 125 kHz proximity and 13.56 MHz contactless smart card and reader technologies into a single reader, providing additional support for users upgrading from the proximity cards to the contactless smart cards, HID said in a statement on Tuesday.
The RP15, a new reader designed to simplify MiniProx retrofit replacement, providing a simple installation solution for customers upgrading from the widely used MiniProx readers to high performance contactless smart cards capabilities; and RPK40, a multi-technology keypad reader that combines contactless card presentation with a personal identification number (PIN) to support dual-factor identity authentication.
"With further product line enhancements, the multiCLASS reader line is the ultimate migration tool. With our unique card technology read selection feature, customers have endless card management flexibility, with security and simplicity," said Damon Dageenakis, HID's product manager, Reader Products.
With multiCLASS, the customer has the ability to transition to contactless smart cards over time while incorporating the use of multiple card technologies within a single building or across multiple facilities. Additionally, customers can transition from disparate proximity technologies to a unified contactless smart card solution from HID.
HID statement added that the readers are capable of reading some of the most 13.56 MHz contactless access control technologies including: iCLASS, ISO 14443B, ISO 14443A CSN (MIFARE, DESFire), ISO 15693 CSN and US Government PIV II credentials.
The readers are scheduled for shipment in early Q4 2007.
