MUMBAI, INDIA: Certifications and audits along with skills and capabilities of workforce, play a key role in influencing clients' decision before they zero down on signing any service provider particularly in the ITeS and BPO industry.
While most ITeS and BPO companies today are going for certifications such as CMMi and ISO, very few have been able to achieve the certification of eSourcing Capability Model for Service Providers (eSCM-SP).
Hinduja Global Solutions (HSG) happens to be among the very few ITeS and BPO firms to achieve the Capability level 4 certification of eSCM-SP, which is offered by a research consortium led by Carnegie Mellon University’s Information Technology Services Qualification Center (ITSqc).
The certification implies that HGS has successfully implemented all the 84 practices and 10 capabilities across geographies including centers in the US, Philippines and India. However, the certification will be evaluated again after 2 years and if all the 84 practices are well maintained by HSG, then it will get a level 5certification.
“This capability certification provides our company a global recognition among BPO companies as well as help in serving global fortune 500 companies that look for this certification,” Ashwin Hoskote, HGS' senior vice president - Global Business Excellence told CyberMedia News.
“Besides the external recognition and acceptance of excellence, the certification will have various internal benefits such as predictability of processes and timing, benchmarking the processes, flowing back of improvements in process cycles and so forth,” Hoskote added.
About 4 centers in the US and Philippines along with 14 centers in India have undertaken the evaluation processes for this certification, which are highly time consuming and rigorous that involves organizational excellence as well as individual's evaluation and engagements, according to Hoskote.
“HSG, probably is the first company to have this certification across multi-geographies and multi-locations. Other than HSG, only IBM Global Delivery in Argentina and Infosys BPO have received this certification,” Hoskote added.
Further, he informed that initiation of this certification process began last year around September-October 2010 and almost took 18 months to get completed.
HSG offers ITeS and BPO services catering to verticals such as healthcare, telecom, consumer products, banking and finance apart from services in retail, pharma, government and automotive.
