Hexaware on expansion mode

PUNE: IT and BPO firm Hexaware Technologies is looking at expanding its operations globally. The company is adding around 1000 employees to its existing 5700 employees, in next two years.

This would entail expansion of its domestic centers in Chennai, Pune and Gurgaon as well as overseas action.

The company's Mexico center, that is currently abuzz with recruitment, will be functional around mid-June and will see a capacity of around 40 people by the year's end. The company plans to expand its German facility, which is operational since 2004.

Deependra Chumble, chief people officer at Hexaware said that the expansion would constitute significant ramp up across its centers in  India. "Chennai presently comprises of around 2000 people while the Gurgaon center has 70-100 people. We would be looking for additional space in Gurgaon and would move to our campuses in Chennai and Pune."

Its Pune center, which celebrated its first anniversary on Friday, will see the fastest growth in this expansion plan. "We have today grown from scratch to 250 people and with around 25 acres in Hinjewadi III phase, we aim to touch a critical mass of 1500 to 2000 people by 2008," added Chandrashekhar Vaze, head of Pune center. The Pune center churns out work on PLC, ERP, testing besides new technologies like web, Java  and .Net.

Earlier, the company had hinted at plans to go global by setting-up centres in Mexico, China and East Europe besides a search for acquisitions in Europe and North America, with a kitty of around $20-40 million. Commenting on the same, Chumble said, "Yes, an acquisition is on the cards but our main growth will be primarily organic."
