Healthcare sector gets a TravelMate

BANGALORE: Acer India today announced the launch of its latest in its series of tablet PCs, the TravelMate C202, powered by Intel Centrino mobile technology and featuring Biometric Fingerprint Security and Embedded Security Subsystem to enable secure personal computing.

According to the company, “The TravelMate C202 is Acer's fifth-generation tablet PC, and is the first tablet PC to sport a patented sliding-track mechanism for convertible notebook functionality, that converts between notebook and slate modes.”

The sliding track permits one-motion convertibility between slate mode and notebook/keyboard with 125-degree display angle, facilitating easier sharing of onscreen information and quicker information capture.

“The high-contrast 12.1" LCD is tablet-optimized for improved reading and writing comfort,” Acer said.

The statement continued that the Acer TravelMate C202 is equipped with the Acer Soft Button, a unique onscreen launcher that centralizes access for efficient operation along with a built-in scroll wheel that provides up and down functions in tablet and notebook modes.

A track-point acts as a compact replacement for an external mouse and a full-size EMR pen (with eraser and calibration controls) and 84-/85-key keyboard makes data input comfortable in both operating modes.

“These features enable users in general and the healthcare sector in particular to access and update data quickly and easily,” the company said.

The TravelMate C202 also supports PCI Express bus architecture for a 4x increase in discrete graphics processing speed. Combined with next-generation dual-channel DDR2 533 MHz memory, a faster pathway is created for multimedia applications and video data.

Super-sharp display via an NVIDIA GeForce Go 6200 graphics core with TurboCache technology, utilizes the additional bandwidth of the PCI Express graphics bus to reach

higher levels of performance and generate crisp, cinema-like visuals for impressive presentation.

The tablet PC is priced at Rs 94,999 excluding taxes.
