BANGALORE, INDIA: "Major hard disk drive (HDD) vendors reportedly have asked branded PC vendors to sign one-year buying contracts for HDDs," says a report on Digitimes.

This move comes as the supply of HDDs has been affected after the Thailand floods, owing to which the HDD vendors want the PC vendors to commit for specified prices and volumes of HDDs for the next one year, adds the report.

On the other hand, the PC vendors are reluctant to sign long-term supply contracts, since they expect HDD prices to drop once the supply chain recovers.
