HCL Peripherals eyes North Indian market

NEW DELHI: Chennai-based HCL Peripherals, a unit of HCL Infosystems Ltd and manufacturer of IT products has forayed into the Northern channel in an aggressive manner.

The company has devised its strategic plan to go aggressive in the retail and distribution segment also by penetrating into the B and C class cities.

The company plans to enter Jaipur, Udaipur, Lucknow, Agra and the like cities, streamlining the North belt and making the market vibrant with HCL-P display products sale.

HCL Peripherals has appointed Ingram Micro as its national distributor for the whole display products consisting of CRT and LCD monitors/TVs, Plasma products and keyboards.

Apart from this, the company would also appoint some more distributors and dealers across India and realign them under Ingram Micro's channel force.

HCL Peripherals display products national manager VR Kirubakaran said, “We have 35 regional distributor partners (RDPs) under Ingram Micro which we plan to increase this number to 50 by January 2006. We directly deal with 1,250 plus dealer partner for our display products. Out of this we have 200 plus dealers in North India and we plan to increase this to 500 by January — February 2006. The number of RDPs in Northern India would be increased to 25-30 by January 2006.”

In a bid to boost the channel selling, HCL Peripherals has declared business year 2005-06 as “The Bonanza Year of Channels”.

Right now HCL Peripherals enjoys a market share of 18 percent and is trying to garner 25 percent market share by mid-2006. The company plans to achieve Rs 250 crore turnover from display products business alone and the company as a whole is aiming at Rs 360 crore turnover for the financial year July 2005 — June 2006.
