The Silver Line branding commemorates 25 years of HCL Insys' IT leadership in

the country. HCL Insys is a key OEM partner in India for Intel Corporation. HCL

Insys is also under a Country Leadership Program (CLP) with Intel. Under this

program, the company has been working on the Beta version of this server with

Intel and other leading software vendors in the HCL Insys Labs for the past

several months.

The Intel Itaniumä architecture is based on EPIC technology(its credit

ratings out of junk status), a new design philosophy going beyond the RISC and

CISC processors that are available today. EPIC technology enables greater

instruction level parallelism than previous processor architectures, supporting

higher levels of performance in targeted application segments. EPIC is based on

a unique combination of innovative features such as predication, speculation and

explicit parallelism enabling world-class performance for the high-end

enterprise class of computing.

HCL Infosystems head marketing George Paul said, "The HCL Infiniti range

of servers are based on building blocks from the Intel Labs and are a huge

success with the corporates. These products backed by HCL Insys' direct support

on hardware and server software are designed to meet the mission critical needs

of the Indian enterprise. The Silver Line is an important milestone and also an

emotional launch as we continue our leadership role in bringing out the latest

in technology to Indian customers".

"Server applications such as large databases, business intelligence, and

supply-chain management/ ERP/ CRM will benefit from the 64-bit capability.

Additionally, the EPIC features delivered by the Intel Itaniumä processor will

provide higher availability, performance, and improved transaction

throughput", George elaborated.

"As companies come to rely more heavily on business processes done in

real time, the need for next-generation computing power will continue to

grow," said Amar Babu, GM - Channels, Intel. "The Intel Itanium

Architecture signals the birth of a new era by providing a world-class platform

for enterprise and technical computing. We share the pride & privilege of

associating with HCL Infosystems, especially as this launch also coincides with

their Silver Jubilee year".
