HCL launches BusyBee at Rs 40,000

BANGALORE: HCL Infosystems Ltd. (HCL Insys) has announced the launch of the

Intel Pentium II microprocessor-based HCL BusyBee PC at a price of Rs 39,990.

Announcing the launch, HCL Infosystems Frontline Division chief executive A.

Mohan Rao said, "Research has pointed out that two key criteria drive the

consumer's PC purchase--price and the microprocessor. This launch displays HCL's

longstanding aggressive and bold campaign to offer appropriate solutions to

buyers at the most advantageous price points much ahead of other market

players." Powered by the Intel Pentium II microprocessor, the HCL Busybee

is equipped with 32 MB SDRAM, a 4.3 GB UDMA hard disk, integrated sound card and

a 4 MB AGP card. The unit comprises of a 14-inch SVGA color monitor, keyboard,

mouse and comes preloaded with Windows 98. It is also supported with a one year

on-site warranty.

HCL Infosystems' Frontline Division markets national and international brands

of computer systems and peripherals within the country. With its network of 600

resellers and 60 retail outlets across 300 cities, Frontline Division has

promoted the penetration of PCs in the home and the small office/home office

(SOHO) segments. To provide its users support services and solutions, the

division has a countrywide network with 175 partners across 100 cities, termed

the "SupportNet".
