HCL intros eco-friendly laptops

NEW DELHI: HCL Infosystems Limited today introduced a complete lineup of eco-efficient consumer and business notebooks that are compliant with the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directive.

The new environment friendly range of notebooks includes:

· High Performance HCL Leaptop Z & U Series based on Intel Core2 Duo processors.

· Super Efficient HCL Leaptop X & D Series based on Intel Centrino Duo technology.

· Dual Core HCL Notebook K & P series based on Intel Pentium Dual Core.

· Value for Money HCL Notebook S & L Series based on Intel Celeron processors.

George Paul, executive vice president, HCL Infosystems Limited, said, “E-waste has been a subject of concern globally and nationally. HCL, as a socially responsible corporate citizen, has a comprehensive program to ensure protection of environment, health and safety of all its stakeholders, which also recognizes the need to minimize the hazardous impact of e-wastes of its products on the environment.”

“As part of this program, we had initiated voluntary compliance to RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directives for all our products. Today, we are happy to announce full RoHS-compliance of the new range of HCL laptops being manufactured in our plants,” he added.

HCL’s technological prowess in introducing PCs for the Indian consumers is also demonstrated by the presence of the unique EC2 Technology in HCL laptops. HCL EC2 is an instant self-healing technology that can restore a PC and recover lost data in less than a minute, in case of a system crash or accidental loss of data by the user, HCL said in a statement.
