HCL Infosystems launches mobile speech recognition solution

BANGALORE: HCL Infosystems Limited (HCL Insys) has aunched a mobile speech recognition solution, Dragon NaturallySpeaking Mobile, a product of US-based Dragon Systems, Inc. with whom HCL Insys’ Frontline Division has a tie up for exclusive marketing and support alliance. The solution has been priced at Rs 26,995.



According to a release, this mobile dictation solution consists of the Dragon NaturallySpeaking Mobile digital recorder, Dragon NaturallySpeaking Preferred speech recognition software and a special linking software.



The Dragon NaturallySpeaking Mobile solution will enable users to capture their thoughts in natural, continuous speech while on the move. This will be possible through a palm-sized, hand-held Dragon NaturallyMobile digital recorder. The recorder supports 40 minutes of recording on standard memory. This recorder, the first such specially designed for speech recognition, is attached to the user’s PC and the recorded speech is immediately and automatically transcribed in to text. The recorder also allows the user to review the dictation in "playback" mode.



The system comes with a premium microphone headset and a thin connecting cable for the PC serial port. The system requirements for the solution are a minimum 266 MHz Pentium processor, with an available serial port, Windows 95/98/NT. The minimum memory requirement is 48 MB RAM, and a 200-MB free hard disk space.
