Speaking on the occasion, Sharad Srivastava, Director Sales—India and South Asia, Western Digital, reiterated, “We are planning to extensively boost our channel network and consolidate our presence in the country. We wanted to fill in the gaps in our distribution model and HCL is the right kind of partner to help us along the way. Given their domain expertise and experience, after-sales support and extensive national reach, we are confident of increasing our presence and penetration in the market.”

With this partnership, WD products will be available across HCL’s 600 re-distribution stockists and over 4,200 dealers located across 200 towns in India.

Apart from HCL Infosystems, SES Technologies and ACI Infocom are the other two national distributors that have been distributing Western Digital products across India.

Srivastava further clarified, “The reason that they are appointing yet another distributor is because we wanted to fill in the existing gaps in our channel network. We have specialized national distributors for each of our product categories and there will be no clash between them since they will look after separate product portfolios.”

“Over the past three decades HCL has emerged as a pioneer in the Indian ICT distribution industry. HCL has been working with major international brands across segments to bring the latest and the best in ICT from across the globe to the Indian shores. Our relationship with Western Digital is in line with our focus on strengthening distribution in the IT space. We are confident that by leveraging our wide distribution network and reach, this relationship will further consolidate WD’s position in Indian hard drive market,” said George Paul, Executive VP—Marketing, HCL Infosystems.

Western Digital has a widespread presence in India with its distributors’ branch offices present across 60 locations in India. Further, the company has over 1,000 registered SelectWD channel partners spanning across 200 cities and towns in India.
