HCL Infosystems bags Rs 240 Cr IT deal from BSNL

NEW DELHI, INDIA: IT service provider HCL Infosystems Ltd today announced that it has been selected to implement ‘System Integration Project’ for state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL).

The Rs. 240 crore contract involves the implementation of over 60,000 ERP licences, including configuration, business process re-engineering, hardware, networking, operations and maintenance customization, training to BSNL employees and program management for seven years.

HCL said this is the largest roll out in terms of licenses issued for any single project in the country. The prime objective of ERP system is to improve the information flow to facilitate better decision making leading to overall improvement in the performance of the organization by way of improvements in the productivity, cycle time, financial performance and information transparency, said a press release.

“This project for BSNL is in line with our focus on the System Integration business. There is no better endorsement than being chosen to provide ongoing ERP support services for BSNL, as this demonstrates the value that we bring to implementations of this kind in the system Integration arena,” said J.V. Ramamurthy, chief operating officer, HCL Infosystems Ltd.

“We believe that a country-wide ERP solution is critical to capture & map various business processes and management of work flow in order to provide better decision pathways in organizations with major footprint across the country,” he added.

Other Indian IT services companies including Infosys, Satyam and TCS had also expressed interest for the contract. However, HCL won the contract as it was the lowest bidder.
