HCL Infosystems announces FY 07-08 annual results

NEW DELHI, INDIA: HCL Infosystems Ltd, information enabling and ICT System Integration Company, reported quarterly consolidated revenue of Rs 3155 crore, taking the consolidated revenue to Rs 12605 crore for the year ended June 30, 2008.

The consolidated profit before tax during the quarter was Rs 95.6 crore, taking the consolidated profit before tax for the year to Rs 430.1 crore. And the consolidated profit after tax during the quarter is placed at Rs 65.1 crore, taking the consolidated profit after tax for the year to Rs 300.1 crore, the HCL Infosystems declared at a press conference here on Tuesday.

System Integration has always been a growth area for HCL, the company said. It bagged Rs 1200 crore worth of orders, in the last five months.

The year saw HCL introducing several new models of desktops and notebooks and it laid special emphasis on the designing apart from other innovations in the HCL laptops.

HCL had introduced India’s first notebook with prism engraved design, another with special piano finish to make these notebooks more appealing, user friendly and also a style statement for different user groups.

The year also saw growth in HCL’s services business portfolio, marking a growth of 35 per cent, from Rs 360 crore to Rs 485 crore. The non-telecom distribution business grew over 270 per cent during FY 07-08.

Revenue from computer systems business during the quarter was Rs 876.6 crore, taking the revenues for the year to Rs 3388.9 crore, i.e. a growth of 22 per cent.

Revenue from telecommunication and office automation business during the quarter was Rs 2278.2 crore, taking the revenues for the year to Rs 9222.8 crore.

HCL Infosystems said that its, based on this result, the board of directors has recommended a final dividend of 100 per cent per fully paid up share, taking the total dividend for the year 2007-08 to 400 per cent.

 “This year a number of technology solutions have been launched to meet the needs of our customers. The year also saw good momentum being added to our System Integration business,” said Ajai Chowdhry, chairman and CEO of HCL Infosystems Limited.

“HCL capitalised, added service verticals and bagged orders in a number of diversified solutions and service offering areas,” he added.

”Going forward, our new service verticals will be adding more strength to our growth strategy with a continuous focus on our core business. We intend to continue building distinctive positions in each vertical and horizontal service areas that HCL is addressing.”

HCL also registered revenue growth in Apple iPods and Kodak range of products. The company was awarded the best iPod distribution partner for Apple for the 2nd year in succession.

The employee strength has increased from 5082 in 2007 to 5753 in 2008.
