HCL Info Q2 PAT grows 968 %

NEW DELHI: HCL Infosystems Ltd (HCL Insys) has reported a PAT of Rs 32.4 crore as against Rs three crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a growth of 968 percent. The company reported consolidated revenue of Rs 856.1 crore during the quarter ended September 30, 2003 as against Rs 435.8 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.



The revenue from the computer systems business stood at Rs 334.5 crore as against Rs 219.6 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a growth of 52 percent. Profit before interest and taxes stood at Rs 25.6 crore as against Rs 9.4 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a growth of 172 percent.



The revenue from the office automation and telecom business stood Rs 518.6 crore as against Rs 177.9 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a growth of 192 percent. PBT and taxes stood at Rs 12.3 crore as against Rs 6.8 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a growth of 80 percent.



Announcing the results, HCL Insys chairman, Ajai Chowdhry said, "the performance of the company confirms our optimism in the future of the hardware industry in India, as well as reinforces our belief in ourselves. We have recently been focusing on reaching out to small towns and rural markets to increase the penetration of IT in the country, in areas where we believe the real growth will come from."
