HCL Info PAT up 19 p.c at Rs 76 cr.

NEW DELHI: HCL Infosystems today reported net profit after tax of Rs 76 crore for the second quarter ended December 31, 2006, up 19 per cent from Rs 63.8 crore posted for the corresponding quarter the previous year.

The company posted an increase of 6 per cent in consolidated revenue at Rs 2968.9 crore, during the second quarter as against Rs 2807.1 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Profit before tax for the quarter increased to Rs 104.9 crore from Rs 88 crore posted during the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Revenue from the Computer Systems business was Rs 652.8 crore as against Rs 557.0 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a growth of 17 per cent. Profit before interest and tax was Rs 43.9 crores as against Rs 25.8 crores in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a growth of 70 per cent recorded in the Computer Systems business.

Revenue from the Telecommunication and Office Automation business was Rs 2309.5 crore as against Rs 2243.7 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Profit before interest and tax was Rs 61.5 crore as against Rs 61.7 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year in the Telecommunication and Office Automation business.

Consolidated EPS for the quarter was Rs 4.5 per share as against Rs 3.8 per share in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a growth of 18 per cent.

The Board of Directors has declared quarterly Interim dividend of Rs 2 per share (100 per cent on an equity share of par value of Rs 2 each)

Ajai Chowdhry, chairman and CEO, HCL Infosystems Limited, commenting on the results for the quarter ending December 31, 2006, said, “In the last quarter, HCL consolidated its position on two key frontiers. We commissioned our second state-of-the-art integrated ICT manufacturing facility at Uttranchal, which not only makes us India’s leading PC manufacturer, but also puts HCL in a strong position to capitalize on the growing opportunities in the Indian PC market.”

“The distribution arm also sustained its forward momentum by expanding its retail presence to 29 HCL Digilife outlets across the nation,” he added.
