NOIDA: HCL Comnet has unveiled an intelligent network operations center (iNOC)

at Noida that spans an area of 15,000-sq. ft., to provide remote outsourcing

solutions across multi-vendor and multi-technology platforms. The iNOC will

cater to the IT management segment, where clients would outsource their IT

resource handling and monitoring to HCL. Currently, the facility has a client

base of 56, handling 5200 nodes/devices across 400 cities worldwide.

The center is a disaster recovery site handling mission critical data with

foolproof security back ups and natural disaster resistant structures. The

entire area comprises of the rack and operations area, customer cubicles,

laboratory and conference rooms. The operations area, in 3 C-shapes houses 36

workstations while the rack area encloses 50 racks with independent power

supply. Mobile intercoms have been provided to relay information between the

rack and operation areas. The facility also has four cubicles that can be used

for customer rent space.

The NOC will manage four layers for their customers, mainly databases,

applications, systems and networks. "It is India's first facility to get

the ISO 9002 Certification. The iNOC offers 24x7 monitoring, alerting and

trouble shooting, diagnostic consultant g and high-end engineering services.

India is an attractive destination for out-tasking, for even by 2008 there would

be no substantial reduction in differential income with the rest of the world.

Lower wages would continue to drive outsourcing towards it. And once companies

outsource their services, they are expected to see a 60-70 per cent drop in

their operating cost," said HCL Comnet CEO Vineet Nayar.

Nayar claims that the company has a 90 per cent market share in the area of

managed services in the country. For the year 2004, and with the existing

capacity at their new Center, the company will handle 5.3 million measurements

per day and 25,000 devices.
