HCL bags order from Keltron

MUMBAI, INDIA: HCL Infosystems, provider of IT services, today announced that it has bagged a contract from Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd. (Keltron).

HCL Infosystems has been selected as the leading vendor to provide over 6500 units of laptops and netbooks. Keltron is the nodal agency for supplying the laptop and netbook as a part of IT@School project for Government of Kerala, said a press release.

This initiative is an integral part of the Government of Kerala’s vision in enhancing the role of technology in the state education system.

HCL Infosystems will be partnering with the state government and will provide best in class HCL ME Laptops designed for Indian conditions and supported by HCL’s service and support network.

J V Ramamurthy, president and COO, HCL Infosystems said, “We have always been committed towards the cause of revolutionising education in the country through adoption of technology and we are grateful to be associated with this prestigious project IT@School by the Government of Kerala. ”

He added that the efforts made by the Kerala government and Keltron encouraging ICT enabled education are truly commendable and they look forward to a continued association with such initiatives along with many more to come.

IT@School is a project led by Department of General Education, Government of Kerala, to foster IT education and facilitate ICT enabled education delivery in schools across the state. The project will be covering classes starting 5th to 12th standard in the state reaching out to over 8000 schools, the release added.
