HCL bags India's largest PC order

BANGALORE: One of India's leading PC brands, HCL Infosystems has presumably won the country's largest order for desktops. A deal worth Rs 76 crore comprising of 18,200 PCs and several servers, printers and UPS from the department of school education, Punjab.



As per the deal, HCL will supply, install and maintain the IT Infrastructure in 1,287 government schools both in rural and urban areas across the state of Punjab. The project is aimed at providing information and communication technology (ICT) education to the students of these schools. To begin with, students from class VI to class XII, in the current session will be targeted through the project and helped to become IT literate. The course curriculum would be based on NCERT guidelines and CBSE syllabus.



This would be a statewide deployment, consisting of HCL Infiniti PCs and HCL Infiniti Servers. More than 1600 Infiniti servers would be deployed for this project. HCL Infosystems has a direct support and installation infrastructure to roll out such projects.
