The companies said in a blog post, "This partnership will enable us to focus our technical teams on native cloud and cognitive solutions, as well as industry-specific opportunities."

"Development and support teams from IBM, who are an expert in these products and offerings, will benefit from HCL’s strong engineering heritage and culture of empowerment. Together, we will continue to advance and cloud-enable existing software, which is essential to the long-term success of our clients," the post further added.

HCL will build features and functions on top of existing IBM platforms and products such as Tivoli Workload Scheduler, Rational Testing, and Rational Modeling & Construction and software for on-premises, hybrid and public cloud and software as a service (SaaS) platforms.

While automation helps organizations efficiently manage their workloads, "devOps is now an essential part of the software development process as it improves the speed, quality, and predictability of development projects," the post added.
