MUMBAI: Hathway Cable Internet, an Indian cable ISP, has announced new rates
for cable modem at Rs 3, 333, a reduction of 50 percent as compared to a price
of Rs 6,750 last year. According to the company this reduction has been
undertaken with the aim of making the entry cost for Hathway cable Internet
subscribers more affordable. This is due to prices falling in the International
market and to drive the growth of Hathway's Cable Internet business.
According to the company release, as per the new plan, Hathway Cable Internet
will introduce cable modems, which are sleek, reliable and secure access devices
and provide downstream speeds many times faster than other broadband access
services. The modems are built on DOCSIS (Data over Cable Services Interface
Specifications) technology.
Hathway Cable Internet also offers various broadband packages where Cable
Internet subscribers are offered various tariff plans ranging from Rs 650 a
month for residences to Rs 35,000 for corporate, depending upon the usage
pattern.
