Hathway rolls out CAS

NEW DELHI: Hathway Cable and Datacom Pvt Ltd, one of the largest cable TV service providers, has formally announced the roll out of the digital CAS in three metros–Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai. According to the company CEO K Jayaraman, it would be launching the product zone wise, starting with south Delhi, south Mumbai and entire Chennai. Hathway also announced today the availability of its set top boxes.



The company has selected News Data Security (NDS) as its prime system integrator and technology provider for the digital network upgrade and the integration of the set-top boxes, compression systems and the subscriber management system.



For digital compression and delivery of channels, it has selected Scientific Atlanta to set up the digital compression and transmission unit at Hathway. The unit, claimed to be Asia’s first and one of its kind, can provide support to as many as 1,000 channels.



Talking about the partners Jayaraman said, "We have selected the best of the breed business providers for upgrade. The CAS and set-top boxes come at a nominal cost, which will be well accepted by the masses as per our initial assessment."



Ministry of Information and broadcasting Secretary Pawan Chopra who was also present during the announcement said that the launch by Hathway marks the beginning of CAS revolution in India.
