"We would work closely with UIDAI to implement the UID project in the state. The most important thing is the enrolment and the duplication of resident information. During enrolment, demographic and biometric details of all the residents of the state would be collected in accordance with UIDAI standards and guidelines," said Y.S. Malik, principal secretary (information technology), here Thursday.

"These would include all the ten finger prints as well as both iris images for the applicable age groups. Onetime enrolment is necessary and it would be supplemented with an ongoing mechanism for new enrolments as well as updating the change of status," stated Malik.

With this MoU with Haryana, UIDAI has signed MoUs with a total of 11 states and three union territories across the country.

Haryana government has set up a state level empowered committee to oversee the implementation of the UID project. UIDAI would issue unique identification numbers to the residents based on the demographic and biometric data of the individual.

"UID numbers would be issued to eliminate duplicate and fake identities which could be verified and authenticated in an easy and cost effective way," said R.S. Sharma, director general of UIDAI, here Thursday.
