NEW DELHI, INDIA: ITM University, Gurgaon has become the first University of Delhi- NCR to introduce specialization in Cyber Security in M.Tech course for Computer Science. The admissions for the course are ongoing and the new session will begin from July 2015 onwards.
There have been numerous cases of cyber-crimes like hacking, obscene publication, unauthorized access, fraud digital signatures etc., which makes it the need of the hour to recruit professionals with specialization to tackle the new methods of harm, like cyberwar, cyberespionage, cyberterrorism, and cybercrime.
With the directives given by the Department of Electronics & IT, there is a need to create a workforce of 5 lakh professionals skilled in Cyber Security. ITM’s course will skill the youth in various aspects of the cyber world both theoretically and practically. It will open doors for students willing to get in this field.
The four semester program at ITM will offer subjects on applied cryptography, secure coding and software vulnerabilities, digital forensics, cyber-crime and cyber laws, reverse engineering and malware analysis, forensic laws and ethics, network security, and ethical hacking lab.
Prof. Ravindra Ojha, Director, School of Engineering and Technology, ITM University, Gurgaon said that, “In today's era of Internet usage, there is a dearth of qualified technical professionals, to detect attacks, evaluate security, assess risk and formulate cyber policies. In order to meet these challenges in cyber security, ITM University, Gurgaon, has introduced a course in M.Tech Computer Science with specialization in Cyber Security.”
