Gurgaon-based Mobycy has launched a dockless bicycle sharing application. Dockless bike sharing is a system where users can cycle a public bike without having to pick it up, or drop it off at a docking station. This is done via a mobile application which tells you where the nearest bike is available, and then where the nearest drop off point is available. This means users can collect and drop a bike virtually anywhere.

Mobycy bike sharing app allows user to find a bicycle in their vicinity, unlock it via QR code and commute shorter distance faster. The user can pay Rs 10 for a single ride or buy the monthly subscription to avail two rides daily for an hour each. The app is currently available on Google Play Store and will be available in the App Store in the next few days.

“We are excited to announce that Mobycy is now live on Google Play Store. It presents users with a greener, healthier means of commute with complete last-mile connectivity, in the form of smart, dockless bikes,” Mobycy co-founder Akash Gupta said in a statement.

The company is launching its operations across the country with a fleet of 5,000 “Smart Bikes” and will be increasing the number to 50,000 in the next six months.

To access the app, a user can sign up using Aadhaar authentication and pay a security deposit of Rs 999 which is refundable. The security deposit for students is Rs 499.

Smart Bikes are currently available across Delhi-NCR region, including Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Chandigarh. The Smart Bikes will be available across several colleges and universities, such as Amity Noida and MDI Gurgaon.

The company has also partnered with Paytm to ensure easy digital payments and will partner with more digital payment providers in the coming future.
