GTPL intros HD cable in Kolkata Metropolitan Area

BANGALORE, INDIA: Gujarat Telelink Private Ltd. (GTPL), along with networking major Cisco, has rolled-out high definition (HD) digital cable set top boxes in Kolkata Metropolitan Area (KMA).

This will enable subscribers to experience superior HD TV along with other services such as DVR (digital video recording), HD gaming, VoD (Video on demand) and future Connected Home services to consumers.

This announcement was made on the sidelines of Cable TV Show 2012, SAARC region’s largest cable TV show, in Kolkata.

GTPL, a multi service operator (MSO) in India has recently acquired KCBPL, a provider of cable service in West Bengal and is focused on digitization of cable networks in the region. 

GTPL and  Cisco will work together to usher in cable digitization across the key states of Gujarat, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Assam and Jharkhand to deploy more than 8,00,000 next-generation digital set-top boxes, both HD and SD, over the next 12 months in these markets.
