GTL revenue dips 46% in Q4

BANGALORE: GTL has recorded a total net sales and services revenues of Rs 136.92 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2002 as against Rs 258.07 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, representing a dip in revenue of 46 per cent. The total net sales and services revenues of Rs 532.81 crore for the year ended March 31, 2002 as against Rs 814.82 crore in the previous year, representing a dip in revenue of 36 per cent. Considering the overall slowdown in operations during the year and the unlikely turnaround in the short term the company has announced a dividend of 10 per cent.



Operating profit before depreciation stood at Rs 41.83 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2002 as compared to Rs 90.41 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The profit before tax and extra-ordinary items for quarter ended March 31, 2002 was Rs 28.39 crore as against Rs 79.87 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Net profit after tax and before extra-ordinary items stood at Rs 31.55 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2002 as compared to Rs 82.83 crore over the corresponding quarter of the previous year. International revenues for the quarter ended March 31, 2002 were Rs 22.67 crore as compared to Rs 105.08 crore in the corresponding quarter in the previous year.



Operating profit before depreciation stood at Rs 147.20 crore for the year ended March 31, 2002 as compared to Rs 284.04 crore in the previous year. The profit before tax and extra-ordinary items for the year ended March 31, 2002 was Rs 109.32 crore as against Rs 258.97 crore for the previous year. Net profit after tax and before extra-ordinary items stood at Rs 104.00 crore for the year ended March 31, 2002 as compared to Rs 242.43 crore in the previous year. International Revenues for the year ended March 31, 2002 was Rs 156.21 crore as compared to Rs 300.07 crore in the previous year.



On a consolidated basis for the quarter ended March 31, 2002, the total net sales and services revenues stood at Rs 139.38 crore, Operating profit before depreciation was Rs 42.97 crore, the profit before tax and extra-ordinary items was Rs 25.29 crore and Profit after tax and before extraordinary items was Rs 28.41.



On a consolidated basis for the year ended March 31, 2002, the total net sales and services revenues stood at Rs 547.80 crore, Operating profit before depreciation was Rs 151.24 crore, profit before tax and extra-ordinary items was Rs 107.45 crore and Profit after tax and before extraordinary items was Rs 102.04.



The Software and Internet Group of this division contributed revenues of Rs 143.86 crore during the year ended 31 March 2002 on a consolidated basis. The company during the year reduced its focus from the IPR segment on account of the changing business environment and changes in the customer needs. This reduced focus is reflected in the drop in the revenues and the profitability. Some of the major projects undertaken during the year were in the Insurance, Banking, IT and Telecom and HospitalityVerticals.



The CRM business in this division contributed Rs 70.31 crore for the year ended March 31, 2002 on a consolidated basis. The revenues of this business segment have shown substantial growth over that of the previous year. Major projects undertaken during the year were in the financial services, Insurance, Telecom and Healthcare verticals in the US & Europe markets.



The division comprising of E-Business Infrastructure (EBI) and Enterprise Networks (EN) posted revenues of Rs 225.39 crore for the year ended March 31, 2002 on a consolidated basis. Of this EBI contributed Rs 127.56 crore and EN contributed Rs 97.83 crore. The division’s business model of recurring revenue and long-term projects had helped to sustain itself in an extremely difficult external market conditions. Turnkey Networking Solutions for building call centers helped EN gain a significant market share and achieve a unique positioning. Some of the major projects undertaken during the year were in the Banking and Insurance, Hospitality, IT and Telecom Verticals.
