Growing apps market is good for developers

In an interaction with CIOL, Sumit Mathur, president at Vectorform said, “We at Vectorform use technology and innovation, mixed with common sense to develop applications for web, interactive and multi-touch platforms.”

“We are very much focused towards Indian market from quite some time and Microsoft is one of the biggest partners. Apart from Microsoft, we are also working for various companies in different arenas namely, Mercedes, Lodha Group, TV9 and Ford Motors,” he added.

Explaining on the core focus of the Vectorform, Sumit said, “Our main focus is creating rich user experience with our customers using the latest platforms like Windows 7, Silverlight and Windows Phone and a good example would be the recent app, 'Galactic Alliance', which we developed for Microsoft Surface.”

Galactic Alliance is a multiplayer app, where race fans can play with up to four players competing for the quickest time.

 “One of the first apps, which we developed for Microsoft Surface, is Galactic Alliance. It is built on the power of defense, where one can play together using Microsoft Surface platform,” said Sumit.

He added that the whole idea of Microsoft Surface is to collaborate. “That is the reason why Microsoft Surface is designed in the shape of a table, where one can work together. Our app Galactic Alliance is a perfect example to Microsoft Surface.”

Commenting on the future of apps market, Sumit said,  “We would like to get benefited by the growing apps market in India by creating applications for other platforms that includes Android too. Since we witness a surge in downloading apps from Android and Windows market in India, our primary focus will be more on this market.”

He also observed that there is a need for better apps development and there is great possibility to create good apps in the future.

Growing apps market is a very good scenario for developers, pointed out Sumit, who believes that it would enable developers to develop innovative apps in their free time, monetize it and also contribute to the app world.

Vectorform-Microsoft Alliance

Commenting on the partnership with Microsoft for creating applications for Microsoft Surface, Sumit said, “Microsoft is our biggest customer and at the same time we partner with them for a lot of strategic project.”

Some of their apps, which are exclusively developed for Microsoft, include Paper Maze and Drift 'N Drive.

He further added that, as a design and technology firm, the company is focused more towards game and entertainment area, which is getting the most attention from the huge user community.

The company plans to move all its existing apps built for Microsoft Surface 1.0 to Microsoft Surface 2.0 in near future.

When asked if apps are developed only for Microsoft Surface, Sumit said, “Our developers at Vectorform have developed a framework, which converts all the applications developed for Microsoft Surface to Windows 7 compatible automatically.”

He also said Vectorform has plans to integrate their apps with Microsoft Kinect devices, which allows customers to access info using gestures at touch screen kiosks.
