The product was launched in July 2008 and has reached a base of 150 customers till date. “We are planning to touch the target of 50 units per month, and while reaching there, we are increasing our sales target as well. Looking at the current market scenario, solution providers have to focus on cost saving products that offer higher value to customers. Solution with higher price tags will not move with ease at this time. Everybody is experiencing slow market and therefore, we are primarily focusing on the home and government segment, which have the requirement of firewalls but are keeping their budget low. This product is rightly suited for them,” informed Kapur.

Speaking further on the market potential of GreenX Firewall, Kapur said that most of the contemporary firewalls available in the market are targeted at the enterprise segment. The vendors who are into this space are primarily focusing on the corporate segment and therefore the prices are also high.

“Moreover, the licensing process of the firewalls are such that the products becomes very expensive and out of reach of the small-sized customers. We have come out with a product that is acceptable to SMB segment and is easy to manage and regulate.”

For Green X firewall, no licensing is required and it is an open system. It is designed for the customers who are not inclined to spend on its administration and regulation.

“This product is ideal in the period of market slowdown as the cost is low, irrespective of the number of users. It reduces the operation cost and increases the employers productivity by putting restrictions on the misuse of bandwidth. It regulates the spinning of audios and videos on Internet. Hence, if customers are wiling to buy a firewall at the time of recession, this would be a better choice,” he added.

Speaking further on the pricing module of GreenX, Kapur informed that for any firewall the average cost is Rs 45,000, and it increases as the number of users increase, whereas for this product the cost is fixed at Rs 25,000 and there is no variation in the price with the increase in the number of users.

Kapur is primarily targeting stock brokers and exporters in SMB space where the number of PC users is high and the customers want cost-efficient operation.
