MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif: Google Inc. said on Monday it had begun supplying its
Internet search engine to some AT&T Wireless customers in the latest deal
between the Internet service group and a cell phone company.
Google said in a news release its search engine would be available
immediately to AT&T Digital PocketNet Service Premium Plan under the
"Other Sites" menu listing on Internet-ready handsets and allow access
to more than 1.6 billion Web pages.
Privately held Google, whose investors include Kleiner Perkins Caufield &
Byers and Sequoia Capital, said the AT&T deal followed similar ones struck
with other wireless providers such as Sprint PCS and Vodafone. Financial details
were not released.
