Google search up in US; Bing, Yahoo down

NEW YORK, USA: Web usage measurement company Hitwise said on Monday that search giant Google grew its already dominant share of search queries in the lucrative U.S search market for the month of May.

According to Hitwise, Google accounted for 72.17 per cent of all U.S. searches conducted in the four weeks ending May 29, 2010, up by 1 per cent compared to April. Yahoo! Search, Bing and Ask received 14.43 per cent, 9.23 per cent and 2.14 per cent, respectively, which shows a declining trend for these search engines. In April, Yahoo had a share of 15 per cent, while Bing's share was 9.4 per cent.

The remaining 74 search engines in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 2.03 per cent of U.S. searches, it said in a press release.
