It is common knowledge that Google has become the de facto public record these days, and from now on searchers who enter only the word ‘me’ in the search box will be given an opportunity to set up or edit their Google Profile. Interesting, indeed.

There may have been people who had remained in relative obscurity, but a proper profile will expose them to people who search for them.

The ReadWriteWeb has reported that when a person searches for a name that matches a Google profile, that profile will now be displayed at the bottom of the search results page.

In fact, typing one’s own name for search will throw up his profile results through the new technology, aptly termed Google Me.

According to Joe Kraus, director of product management in Google's apps group, through this feature the search major is just providing more of an opportunity to have greater presence and to surface the most relevant content about the person himself.

When one searches for results, the top 10 relevant entries appear on the first page. However, most of the time it has been found that this doesn't fully satisfy all the needs of people searching for a specific name.

Google now will show a separate 11th result, in a special Onebox that presents links to people with a particular name and links to their Google profiles. Google Me is all set to rock!
