The toolbar comprises a host of new features aimed at making search and navigation faster, stronger and easier. Google said it would be available in 40 languages with a host of new feature additions to Internet Explorer, including search suggestions, Google bookmarks, autofill, custom buttons and gadgets.

The most notable feature of Toolbar 6, according to Google, is the addition of the Quick Search Box (QSB), search bar to the taskbar.

The quick search enables the user to directly search Google without opening a browser. The Quick Search Box automatically customizes itself based on a user's search patterns and over a period of time it would offer easier navigation to Web sites and applications.

In a blog post, the company said, “This release is an attempt to put the focus back on search. More importantly, it's getting people to start a Google search whether or not they've got their browser open - giving the company more chances to serve up ads. Part of that is already apparent, as users get sponsored results through toolbar searches, just like they would when searching from Google.com.”

Google has added a new tab page for IE users offering a similar experience of the Firefox Toolbar. The new tab page would offer users faster access to their most visited sites, recently closed tabs and bookmarked pages, said the search giant.

Users can edit their most visited sites and the data would remain locally in the browser and not be sent back to Google.
