NEW DELHI, INDIA: Search engine giant Google has announced the third edition of Doodle4Google competition in India.
The 45 finalists have been shortlisted by eminent judges from art and media fraternity, namely, Prasoon Joshi (advertising guru), Nandita Das (award winning film actress) and Ganga Kadakia (renowned artist). Dennis Hwang (the original Google Doodler) and team will be selecting the final winner whose doodle will go live on Google India’s Homepage on 14th November 2011, i.e. Children’s Day.
Celebrating the success of the Doodle4Google competition, Nikhil Rungta, country marketing head, Google India, said, "Doodle4Google has become a popular platform among young children and we are extremely proud of how this program has shaped up in the last few years."
He further added that over 350 schools and 1.5 lakh children from across the country including those from smaller cities and towns have participated this year and we are overwhelmed to see such great enthusiasm.
According to the release various artists and culture institutes helped in selecting the quarter finalists from which the JJ school of Arts, Mumbai helped in the final shortlisting which further went through the renowned panel of judges.
"The children from India have shown their creativity, understanding and sensitivity through their artistic work and Doodle4Google is a great global platform that provided them this opportunity," says Nandita Das, herself daughter of artist Jatin Das.
"All the 45 final doodles are extremely well thought of and are varied in their interpretation of the way they see 'India's gift to the world'. I am sure it is not going to be easy to select the top 3 winners. I congratulate all those who participated in this initiative," Final winner for the Doodle4Google competition will be announced on 9th November 2011 in New Delhi," she added.
