Google Earth launches new update for iOS

Google has updated its Google Earth iOS app just in time for iOS 11’s public debut in September. While Google Earth has been one of the most downloaded 32-bit apps on the App Store until today, Apple had made it clear that iOS 11 won't support 32-bit apps. Hence, the update.

The new version of Google Earth app includes a 64-bit processor support, Voyager feature and Flyover-like 3D views of major cities. Google is positioning Voyager as a way to find your next travel destination. With more than 140 stories in eight languages, Voyager has travel ideas for just everybody.

Voyager allows users to interact with guided tours of popular tourist destinations and famous landmarks, providing more context of the location and the ability to virtually fly through it.

Then, there is the 3D mode that is exactly like Flyover from Apple Maps, allowing users to pan through a 3D environment of major cities, highlighting major landmarks and buildings. The updated version of the Google Earth app also has 'Knowledge Cards' which are fact filled cards that give you information about the places and landmarks you are viewing. The app also introduces 'I'm feeling lucky' button which is designed to explore the world. This feature allows the earth to zoom around to your next destination.

The new version of Google Earth app is available to download from the iOS App Store for free.
